2024 Main Symposium Session Information:

Town Hall - Time Well Spent: A Town Hall on Time Management and Productivity

  • Speaker: Gail J. Cummings, JD, MSS, LCSW

Summary: Time pressures are universal for all lawyers because the profession is designed around time; billing hours and being efficient is how most lawyers make a living. In this Town Hall we will discover effective ways to address time pressures, including understanding the difference between time management and attention management; identifying peak performance time; grouping similar tasks; the importance of effective delegating; managing distractions; and taking wellness breaks to improve productivity.

Plenary #1: Navigating the Legal Issues Related to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Programs

  • Speakers: Kerrie Heslin & Stacy Landau

Summary: Companies today understand that embracing the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion is essential for employee engagement as well as achieving a high level of business performance. However, the introduction of DEI programs and initiatives can present some legal challenges. From announcing DEI goals to enhancing pipeline and succession planning, we are seeing more organizations taking actionable strategies to incorporate DEI efforts into their leadership and workforce development programs. But have they taken into consideration the legal parameters for such programs? NFC’s team will provide critical guidance on mitigating legal risk and instituting best practices to create compliant DEI programs. In addition, NFC will discuss inclusive business practices that can create a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace for all employees.
