8 Defenses to Defuse the Ticking Time Bombs

In the last decade, lawyers made significant advancements in their adoption and advancement of technology, primarily thanks to the cloud. It is easier than ever for a law firm to access and configure the technology needed to run an efficient practice.

Gone are the days of dependency on IT experts managing your data on in-house (on multiple) servers and the need to physically get their hands on individual machines to troubleshoot. Today, a law firm can configure email, contacts, calendars, and file sharing via 365 or Google Workspace and integrate these services with their case management solution in a matter of days. The massive up-front licensing and hardware costs that were the norm are now a faint memory.

In the 2020 ABA TechReport, 40% of lawyers stated they are more likely to turn to internal tech support for problems with their firm’s technology. In other words, they are better able to manage and address technology in-house.

Unfortunately, along with the simplifications brought by the cloud, comes a complexification in regards to cybersecurity threats. These ever-evolving threats significantly increase the risk of suffering a costly data breach to small to mid-sized law firms. Most in-house IT personnel spend the majority of their time doing their best to keep things up and running; busting their chops as glorified firefighters. They lack the bandwidth to stay current, research and deploy today's best-in-class cybersecurity protections.

Lawyers and legal administrators do not possess the skills, knowledge, or time to protect themselves adequately. And, though they will rarely admit it, most in-house, IT personnel lack the time and depth of expertise to adequately implement the proper measures.

Join us to learn the best-in-class security measures every law firm must leverage in 2023 to greatly reduce their risk of a data breach.
